WOODSFORD

LOOKING AHEAD -- Saturday 2nd. November
On Saturday 2nd November at 2pm we will be holding our annual All Souls’ Service in Woodsford Church to remember all those whom we have loved but see no more. Invitations will be sent to those who have lost loved ones during the past year, but all are welcome to come along. There will be a list as you enter, so that you can add any names to be read out, and you will be given a candle to come forward and light during the service if you wish. This service is for all the United Benefice, and all are welcome.

TINCLETON

Christmas Carols and Readings -- Friday 13th. December
Our annual Festival of Lessons and Carols Service, followed by Punch and Munch at the Village Hall, will this year be on Friday 13th December at 6.30pm in Tincleton Church. Please come and join in singing your favourite carols and hearing the story of the First Christmas. The United Benefice Choir will be joining us.

Harvest Thanksgiving -- Sunday 6th. October
This year we will be combining our Harvest Thanksgiving with our service at 6pm on 6th October. You are invited to bring a packet, tin or jar to contribute to the Dorchester Food Bank, our special charity for the United Benefice at Harvest. Why not come along, and join in giving thanks for all the good gifts we receive from God’s hands every day throughout the year?

CHRISTINGLE SUNDAY -- Sunday 1st. December
This will be our annual CHRISTINGLE SERVICE for the Childrens’ Society, who are celebrating 50 years of Christingle together this year. We will be joined by the United Benefice Choir on Sunday 1st December at the earlier time of 4pm. The service is a very special occasion and suitable for all ages. If you’ve never taken part in a Christingle, why not make this year your first?

CROSSWAYS

REMEMBRANCE CONCERT. -- Saturday 9th. November
We will again be hosting the Bovington Military Wives’ Choir for a concert to mark Remembrance 2019. Come along to St Aldhelm’s Crossways for a 7pm start. Retiring collection for the British Legion. All welcome.

BARN DANCE (Another! by popular request) -- Saturday 12th. October
Another Barn Dance with the Band ‘Dorset Buttons’ has been arranged for Saturday 12th October at St Aldhelm’s Church, Crossways. Food will be served at 7pm, followed by dancing at 7.45pm with a Caller. We will have a break halfway through the evening for the second course, with tea/coffee and a Raffle from 8.30-9pm, then continue dancing. Tickets on sale from Will/Joy on 01305 852663, Premier Stores and St Aldhelm’s Church. £10 (Accompanied children £5). Please let us know of any dietary needs beforehand, as we cannot guarantee provision on the day. 01305 854046.

CHRISTMAS COMES -- Wednesday 4th.October.
A date for your diary…the brilliant Durnovaria Silver Band will be visiting us again this year, to get us into the Christmas spirit as they have for the past few years. Make sure you put WEDNESDAY 4th DECEMBER in your diary. The evening starts at 7.30pm at St.Aldhelm’s Church and there will be lots of opportunities to sing your favourite Carols, as well as listening to seasonal music from the Band. Tea, coffee and mince pies included. Christmas Hamper Draw. Entry £4 to cover expenses (accompanied children free).

MUSTARD SEED Community Café. -- Saturday 28th. September from 10-12.
We are holding the monthly Café and Market in St Aldhelm’s (on the Frome Valley School site). Why not come along and grab a bargain, meet friends and have a cuppa with homemade cakes? HARVEST 2019. -- Sunday 22nd. September
Our Harvest service will be on Sunday 22nd. September. Collections of non- perishable food will be made in all churches within the Benefice to donate to Dorchester Food Bank. Volunteers run the Bank, based at Dorford Baptist Church. Supplies of food are given to families in crisis situations referred to the Centre by recognised people or agencies. If you want to make a food donation but won’t be coming to a service, items can be left at Crossways Rectory before 22nd September, clearly marked ‘Food Bank/Harvest’. (You may like to know that we run a small Food Bank from the Rectory in Crossways, always available and completely confidential to those in need). Please call round to receive a bag.

MORETON

MOREPRAISE
meets at 6pm on the fourth Sunday of the month. It’s a short service with lots of singing and a short activity or story for anyone and everyone, but suited particularly to young families and small, noisy children! Our next service is on September 22nd. The theme is Harvest, and we will be singing Harvest hymns and songs old and new. Bring along a Harvest gift to donate to Dorchester Food Bank, which gives food to people in crisis. All welcome. Children, don’t forget your sticker cards.

TINCLETON

SONGS OF PRAISE.
-- 1st. September at 6pm
On Sunday evening 1st September at 6pm, Tincleton Church congregation are meeting together for a service of favourite hymns and readings. They will be accompanied by our organist, Lyndon Wall, and our United Benefice choir. Is there a special request for a hymn that holds special memories for you? If so, contact Ken (Churchwarden) on 01305 848371 and we’ll try to include it. Above all, make sure you come along to join in the singing. Also, why not join us during the summer for one of our regular Sunday services? Dates and times are listed in the table above. We welcome all ages to share in our worship.

A CONCERT. -- Saturday 27th July.
At St. Nicholas’ Church, Moreton on Saturday 27th July. We are delighted to welcome back the ever popular ‘Vox Serenata’, aka Hayley, Emma and friends who will entertain us with a programme of varied vocal music. The concert begins at 7.30pm, refreshments are provided, and there is an opportunity to make a donation towards the upkeep of our church. Please come and bring along your friends.

MORETON

MOREPRAISE.
-- Sunday 23rd June.
MorePraise is our monthly service at Moreton Church on the fourth Sunday evening at 6pm. Our next service is on June 23rd and the theme is ‘Time to Stop’. Bring an aid to rest (but not a full- size bed, please!) Hymns and songs, a short illustrative talk and forty minutes of fellowship. All welcome, whatever age.

MORETON United Benefice FLOWER FESTIVAL - FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY.
This year’s dates are May. 25th-27th – Bank Holiday weekend as usual. Our theme is going to be ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’, and will reflect the fortieth anniversary year of the Flower Festival. If you think you can offer any help with stalls, refreshments (including making cakes) or stewarding, please contact Jacquie on 854046, Gay on 853356 or Will on 852663 for further information. Rotas are available in each church. (If you would like to make a donation towards the cost of flowers in memory of a loved one, please contact Gay for more information).

EASTER DAY.
Our 10.30am service at St Aldhelms, Crossways will include an Easter Egg Hunt for the children. Come and hear the Good News of Easter afresh, and celebrate with us. If you’re an early bird, why not turn up at St Aldhelm’s Church at 6am, to watch the sun rise and celebrate the resurrection of the Son of God on Easter Day, the most holy day of the year for Christians? Refreshments provided!

GOOD FRIDAY CHORAL MEDITATION.
At 12 noon on Good Friday 19th April the United Benefice choir will be leading a service of words and music for Good Friday. We hope you will be able to come and join us at this sacred time, as part of the journey towards Easter Day.

MOREPRAISE
This is always on the fourth Sunday evening in the month. We meet at 6pm, and our next service is on 28th April. The theme is NEW LIFE, and we’re asking you to bring along a potato sculpture! Don’t forget your sticker card. This is a service for all ages, so bring the family or come on your own. Everyone is made welcome.

THE SILVER LINE.
At a recent Parochial Church Council meeting, following an initiative led by the Deanery Synod about tackling loneliness in the elderly, we decided to promote a helpline for older people by distributing leaflets around the village community and displaying posters. ‘The Silver Line’ charity is the only national, free and confidential helpline for older people open every single day and night. WOODSFORD AND CROSSWAYS

MAUNDY THURSDAY 18th. April.
There will be a Bring And Share Supper at 6pm, followed by a special service for Maundy Thursday, where we will remember the Last Supper together. You are welcome to come along. There is a list in church to sign if you are coming.
